Italian Fashion Week: fashion passion

Brooksfield's Tahli Accad will showcase her Italian-inspired creations at Italian Week celebrations this weekend.
The Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) student is among 18 fashion students handpicked to showcase their garments in the fashion extravaganza which runs in the Queen Street Mall from May 29 to 31.
MSIT Fashion education manager Liz Reynolds said that Italian Week was a fantastic opportunity for students to show creative flair with their designs and work with established designers.





Italian Fashion Week Celebration

The work of Wynnum fashion students Edwina Tait, 18, and Stacey O'Keeffe, of Capalaba, will be showcased during parades to mark Italian Fashion Week Celebrations.
Ms Tait's design was shortlisted with the works of 18 students selected from a 450-strong entry field from Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE.

The creations of Morningside fashion designer Melinda Toomey will be on show yhis week.
Melinda is among 18 fashion designers from Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE showcasing their Italian-inspired creations at Italian Fashion Week.
The students were handpicked to exhibit their garments in the fashion extravaganza which will be held in Queen Street Mall from May 29-31.

Tarragindi is a long way from Tuscany but doesn't mean its cosmopolitan reach has not extended to the Brisbane suburb.
Up and coming local fashion designer Caitlin Rowe is one of 18 Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) students who have been handpicked to showcase their garments as part of Italian Fashion Week.


Michele Di Bartolo said the recipes drew on the Sicilian culinary tradition of simple, peasant food so were simple and easy to make.

Marco Evans in Brisbane for the Italian Week

Well-groomed pop singer Marco Evans brought a touch of Milan to Italian Week festivities with his Sunday afternoon set at the top of Queen St Mall.
The Italian Idol vocal coach (whose suspiciously non-Italian-sounding surname hints at a touch of pop star re-invention) ripped out a one-hour set mixing "famous songs of Italy with a lot of songs of American culture".

Italians have taken over Alderley in the lead up to a festival which celebrates the culture, history, and food of the boot-shaped country.
Italian Week organiser Alessandro Sorbello said the week-long celebrations was now in its third year and provided an insight into Italian culture.
